  5. I've just installed STK on Ubuntu. You did an awesome job. The game has improved a lot - especially the graphics. Now there's a game to show off on Linux. The challenges are great - not easy to solve, but not too tricky to get annoyed. I've been following the blog for about a year. Now I received a wonderful Chrismas present. You guys rock!

  8. Anonymous, I suspect the problem is your keyboard, try different bindings.

    See http://supertuxkart.sourceforge.net/FAQ#Certain_keys_don.27t_work_if_I_use_the_keyboard.21 for more information

  9. Great work! Some bugs in Ubuntu, specially the speed...
About the new speedometer, couldn't you use the penguins beak as the pointer and the eyes would look at it?

  12. Marc, you'll need to define what "unplayable" means. If you have bugs, the forum is more appropriate than the blog

  13. What an amazing game! You guys are great!

On my mac 10.6.5 it works great.

There is just one problem: The competition "penguin playground" seems to be unsolvable. Even if I win the level is not solved!

BTW: Is it possible to add own mp3's/ogg's to the game?

  14. phaidon: by "competition", do you mean challenge? If so, please post exactly what challenge it is, what time you manage to obtain, etc. The forum is also more appropriate than the blog for bug reports

Regarding music, yes you can use own oggs, look into SuperTuxKart.app/Contents/Resources/data/music (there are also a few oggs in SuperTuxKart.app/Contents/Resources/data/tracks/*), you can simply replace the oggs, or you could edit the .music files in a text editor

  19. Great game, great improvements on graphics, motion, camera, etc. congratulations of that! but there are some racetracks that are relatively unplayable and frustating, there is no fun on playing the game; example the old mine track, what happended to the old mine racetrack as in supertuxkart 0.6? this new old mine ractrack is so frustating and so unplayable as a human player that is capable of pissing off almost the most experimented gamers, this track in particular have a lot of obstacles that makes it sensless, and you have to be so perfect like the AI karts in order to get at last the second place in the race, I can say the same about XR591, the physics in STK 0.6 where somekind bad, now they are worse in XR591 when you are turninng into the first closed curve (the red one); so, hope you could arrange that, because this game is disappoinitng in some ways.

  20. and by the way, why did you removed the Brad Sucks' song in Tux Snowpeak? It was cool to hear that song when you where playing the game.

  21. jlftg: First you must understand that not everyone shares your view; for example I find the new Old Mine track to be much more fun because it is more challenging. I have no problem beating 19 Expert AI in 5 rounds there. So people have different skill, and as such some will find some tracks too hard, while others don't. I think STK has a pretty good balance between easy and hard levels.

XR591 is unforgiving yes; the track design makes it so that you can easily lose contact with the ground and thus swerve around.
0.6 was somewhat slower, so it's likely the greater speeds in 0.7 have a bad impact in some tracks.

Furthermore, there aren't anyone working on the tracks permanently, so STK mostly rely on getting "outside" contributions for tracks, karts and other artistic pieces. Thusly, this might take some time to get fixed.

  22. I rely on that the Old mine racetrack sometimes could be frustrating, but If someone is good in the game, Will not feel so hard to play, but I am talking for the beginners; the track could be frustrating, for the other tracks I feel that they have a good balance, the only tracks that I found harder is the old mine.

  23. As XR591 have improvements it have some things that makes it worse, as I mentioned before.

  24. Xr591 should indeed be improved so that the curves have a correct sideways slope
About mines, I think it's not that bad, though of course it needs quite a bit of practice. Improving collision physics may help a bit being more forgiving

  25. Thanks for a great work! Please, put back the 'Out of it' music track by Brad Sucks. It was one of the best tracks in the game.
